Pilmaiquén is an Austrian-Argentinian vocalist, composer, and movement artist whose work bridges music and dance into emotionally resonant performances. Her voice is shaped by a cross-continental heritage — from Argentina to Austria, from Czechia, Hungary, Germany, and Italy to South Africa — and by a deep exploration of how sound and movement carry memory, presence, and transformation.
Drawing from Soul, Jazz, echoes of early Reggae and Latin-rooted rhythms, Pilmaiquén weaves her own sonic language. Her music is a blend of groove-based rhythm, rich harmonies, and ritual-inspired poetry. Whether solo or with ensemble, her sound feels intimate, earthy, and expansive.
Trained in experimental dance at SEAD in Salzburg and NYU Tisch in New York, she has performed widely across Europe. Her works include an Album with her first Band Nigrita & The Mellowbeats (2012), the solo tour It’s Up To Us (2016), Four Spells (2017), and her studio album Out Of The Blue (2019). A new project in development continues her journey into voice, ancestry, and movement. Pilmaiquén is a recipient of multiple cultural grants from the City and State of Salzburg and Austria.
